The purpose of your role as a VDC Manager

At CCI Mechanical Inc, we are looking for a strong leader with relevant understanding of our mechanical scopes, who can lead our team of VDC Specialists to new heights. You will have the responsibility to oversee the integration of all portions of BIM/VDC through all stages of a project, with opportunities to increase efficient workflows for fabrication and installation. You will also oversee the BIM coordination process with GC's and other subcontractors on our projects, pushing the project along to help ensure we meet our obligations and deadlines.

We will look to you to champion new standards within the department, and work within the organization to implement new processes to streamline communication and data transfer amongst departments. This will include implementation of new software and the opportunity to work with our fabrication and construction groups to develop processes and procedures that will identify future fabrication opportunities as well as find ways to adapt to our growth expansion opportunities.

This role will provide training and QA/QC of our preferred detailing methods, with an eye to you to help steer us onto a path where we can maximize our efforts through coordination and deliverables to our internal departments through standardized efforts and practices.

Team, Talent & Development

• Responsible for the hiring, development, evaluation, and training of the VDC Department staff.

• Champion and elevate the team of VDC Specialists and Point Layout personnel.

• Provide input and expertise to the VDC Specialists to develop / integrate strategies for optimal performance.

• Develop accountability metrics for purposes of project tracking and ongoing improvement.

• Hold the VDC Department accountable for all deliverables and milestones.

• Develop a strategic framework to improve quality and timeliness.

• Develop pertinent SOP's for detailing-related processes.

• Promote future growth opportunities in areas of fabrication and installation.

• Detailing responsibilities depending on size and scope of project and labor availability.

• Provide final detailing where necessary.

Standards And Procedures

• Development and implementation of CAD/CAM standards related to providing shop fabrication and field installation drawings.

• Create and implement CCI Mechanical preferred construction standards, as well as ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and procedures.

• Align efforts with all internal departments (construction, engineering, controls, commissioning, estimating, fabrication).

• Develop improved QA/QC procedures and ensure implementation and compliance.

Project Delivery

• Provide manpower scheduling, value engineering, and cost savings options at the beginning of a project.

• Monitor and report on scope metrics for all internally subcontracted VDC scopes.

• Monitor opportunities to influence and implement VDC for improved overall company performance.

• Ensures adherence to CCI Mechanical preferred system configurations, materials, procedures, and construction standards.

• Assist Estimating Managers in estimating hours and budgets for BIM/VDC related work.

• Participate in kick-off (turnover), team huddles, and handover meetings as required.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Fabrication Manager, and Project Foremen to finalize prefabrication plan.

What We're Looking for In You

• Full understanding of mechanical construction techniques and field limitations.

• Suitable experience with detailing and coordination software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication and Navisworks

• Proven experience building, leading, coaching, and developing a team towards growth and success.

• Project Management style of leadership, responsible for scheduling, budget, and cost control of all VDC internal subcontracts.

• Professional, courteous, and likable demeanor with a can-do attitude.
