    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $189,000.00 and $221,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    Role Description

    Responsible for assisting in the growth of the trade working capital business, focusing on North American corporate clients through the origination and execution of supply-chain, receivable, and other types of structured trade finance deals. This senior level role requires a working capital expert that can deploy solutions and advise clients with thoughtful ideas and analysis. The role is also expected to help develop & implement new strategies while also contributing to the enhancement of existing products and bringing new customers to the trade finance portfolio. The candidate should have a strong executive presence, confidence, presentation skills, and the ability to articulate a value proposition to a broad range of organizational and functional levels.

    Role Objectives: Delivery

    Responsible for revenue generation as well as the day-to-day management of resources (budget and P&L) allocated to the Bank's supply chain finance business. Manages origination, structuring and execution of supply chain trade finance transactions for North American corporate clients. Responsible for identifying and implementing operational efficiencies as a competitive advantage. May be in charge of 1 or 2 direct reports depending on business needs. The ED/Director should have their own book of business/relationships that they can readily call upon and can bring into the bank.

    Role Objectives: Interpersonal

    Identify, originate and execute ideas and opportunities representing viable supply chain trade finance-based solutions to the Bank's North American corporate clients.

    Negotiate terms and conditions with clients and manage the execution process for trade finance related transactions. Review term sheets and documentation for potential deals and clients and enhance quality of presentation materials and proposals.

    Advise clients with thoughtful trade working capital ideas and analysis. Help develop & implement new strategies to drive the business toward higher ROE & topline growth.

    Manage credit application and documentation process through direction and guidance to junior team members to ensure appropriate quality and timeliness.

    Proactively ensure all compliance and risk guidelines are satisfied in transactions and the portfolio; manage risk through the documentation process and both pre- and post-closing monitoring.

    Stay abreast of industry trends and developments to deepen knowledge of trends, practices, and the competitive landscape.

    Manage complex credit situations, renegotiate terms with clients and other lenders and provide comprehensive feedback to management and Credit that lead to educated decisions that protect the interests of the Bank.

    Role Objectives: Expertise

    Expert understanding of the trade finance business and products, particularly as they relate to Trade Solutions & Supply Chain Finance clients. Requires extensive knowledge and understanding of financial operating metrics, short-term cash management investment vehicles and working capital best practices. Expert in origination, execution, distribution, and coverage experience in Trade Finance.

    Deep knowledge of bank credit products, regulations, compliance matters, risk parameters and internal policies and procedures as they relate to trade finance.

    Ability to build a network of relationships across the Bank to obtain a detailed understanding of the overall needs of the Bank's clients, especially as it pertains to trade finance solutions, and to facilitate seamless execution.

    Experience and knowledge of credit risk analysis and financial accounting treatment.

    Experience in negotiating transactions and deep knowledge of legal documentation underlying open account financing transactions.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Work Experience: 15 +years of specialized experience in Financial Services

    In depth knowledge of local Trade product set, banking products, and local market issues for targeted overseas markets. A considerable level of previous proven sales, relationship building, and business development skills. Experience working with credit and an understanding of the credit process.
