    The expected annual salary range for this role is $63749.97 - $93499.96 a year.

    What you'll do:

    As an Eaton Technical Data Writer, your responsibilities fluctuate depending on project/program requirements. Generally, being detailed in your governance of documentation, from creation to completion is paramount for this position and a consistent requirement for every project. Being able to multi-task and remain flexible in an ever changing fast past environment is beneficial to provide positive results. Working within the necessary delivery dates of all program documentation is essential, which could include hours past a regular 8-hour day. This position is a support position for the overall engineering team, their deliverables, and project/program execution.

    What you will do

    • Responsible for researching, creating, editing and controlling user-friendly technical documentation that adheres to the business guidelines and document templates styles. The Technical Writer researches and translates technical information into engineering documentation for technical and non-technical users.

    • Recommend formats and layouts responsive to customer requirements and company standards.

    • Maintain proper configuration control of documentation.

    • Coordinate internal and external approval of documentation.

    • Plans, schedules, researches, edits, and writes documentation related to projects, products, and development.

    • Designs and/or coordinates layout and organization of Publications and other documents.

    • Regularly works with a wide range of roles such as project/product managers, software engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, field service and other technical personnel to capture information and effectively provide whatever documentation is required for a specific project/program.

    • Write technical documents, including proposals, reports, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, service bulletins, Publications, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet project/program requirements.

    • Consult relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.

    • Often assigned coordination activities within a project, to keep documentation deliverable information statuses.

    • Work closely with Configuration Management in the Engineering release process to provide accurate and detailed incorporation of changes.

    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications

    • A minimum of either a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution OR In lieu of degree, a minimum of 4 years of Technical writing and/or Technical data management experience in an engineering environment will be considered. OR Military experience in lieu of degree, and a minimum 2 years of Technical writing and/or Technical data management experience, within an engineering environment will be considered.

    • A Minimum of 1 year of Technical writing experience, and/or Technical data management experience, within an engineering environment.

    • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee or Refugee.

    • Relocation is not provided. Candidates must reside within 75 miles of Eaton's facility in Orchard Park, NY

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Enovia PLM.

    • Experience with SolidWorks 2018.

    • Experience with SolidWorks Composer.

    • Graphic editing/creation using TechSmith Snagit.

    • Familiarity with SGML and S1000D.

    • Understanding of ITAR and EAR export controls.

    • Familiarity with industry standards (SAE, ASME, MIL-Spec, etc.).

    Skills:

    • Proficiency with other MS Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook.

    • Strong mechanical aptitude.

    • Able to work in a team environment and be a consistent participant.

    • Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills.

    • Superior communication skills.

    • Excellent time management skills.

    • The ability to work independently.

    • Multitask a variety of projects and assignments
