Responsibilities
The Teacher Assistant provides support to the Teacher in carrying out classroom activities facilitating developmental appropriate play activities and maintaining a nurturing classroom learning environment. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner.
Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year experience providing early childhood services for children from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
A minimum of 12 Child Development units and enrollment in college coursework leading to an AA degree
Ability to function as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and at various organizational levels.
Ability to make independent decisions and to take initiative in setting up the classroom environment in attending to a child who is injured who is in a conflict situation or who is endangering himself.
Ability to effectively oversee an assigned group of children in a variety of activities.
Experience in providing child development services to low-income families and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Knowledge of normal infant toddler and pre-school development and early childhood education/child care practices.
Knowledge of child abuse reporting laws and procedures.
Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills.

Pay Range
$21.00 - $25.78 /hour
