  • Job Title: Supervisor, Operational Excellence - Corrective Action Program (CAP) Execution

    Note: This is a hybrid position; location flexible within NiSource territory. This position will primarily support our Indiana locations.

    Job Summary

    The CAP is a foundational component of the NiSource Safety Management System and a critical driver of operational excellence at NiSource. The Supervisor of Operational Excellence - CAP Execution will lead their team to collaborate with key organizational leadership to ensure the timely and appropriate processing of corrective actions and serve as critical support for the overall success of the Safety Management System (SMS) program throughout the organization. The Supervisor of Operational Excellence - CAP Execution is responsible for overseeing the administration and facilitation of the CAP within the operating company. This includes the timely and accurate screening of CAP Condition Report submissions, supporting stakeholders through various CAP Condition Report workflow steps, and oversight of the preparation and facilitation of State Risk Table meetings. The Supervisor of Operational Excellence - CAP Execution is also responsible for supporting sponsors, issue owners and action owners in all steps of the CAP lifecycle and with Devonway navigation.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support CAP process adherence.

    • Lead a qualified team of at least two or more full time employees and has the authority to hire, terminate, coach, develop, promote, demote and performance manage members of the team.

    • Drive operational excellence by ensuring the integrity of the CAP execution and action continuous improvement opportunities in partnership with the Manager of Operational Excellence - CAP Execution

    • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of assigned corrective actions in accordance with CAP review process from evaluation and screening to closure. Oversees the preparation and facilitation of State Risk Table meetings.

    • Support CAP Condition Report sponsors, issue owners, and action owners in all steps of CAP lifecycle (including ensuring alignment with utility segment governance requirements), and with Devonway navigation.

    • Identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities relative to the CAP process.

    • Analyze operating company CAP data to determine trends and create insights and recommendations to operating company leadership.

    • Act as a safety champion. Influence and inspire others to uphold safety and risk expectations and to identify and correct conditions that affect the safety of the public and employees.

    Required Qualifications for Position:

    • Proven track record of leadership, direct and indirect

    • Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision-making skills

    • Demonstrated capability to lead working groups both virtually and face to face

    • Experience with project planning and execution

    • Proactive in collaborating and leveraging interpersonal skills

    • Experience working in the utility industry, with gas operational experience preferred.

    • Knowledge and understanding of American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice (RP) 1173.

    • Proven experience facilitating meetings and achieving group consensus.

    • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders with all levels of the organization (front line employees, leaders, managers, and executives).

    • Experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.

    • Strong communication skills both written and oral; proven ability to prepare and present presentations which are tailored to the audience and objective.

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Proven experience leading complex projects with competing priorities.

    • Ability to analyze data, determine trends, create insights and recommendations on most effective course of action.

    Preferred Qualifications for Position:

    • 2+ years in role of Lead Operational Excellence - Corrective Action Program (CAP) Execution

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, risk management, information systems or similar

    • Previous Leadership experience/role(s)

    • Familiarity with Corrective Action Program and process

    • Experience with NiSource business processes and tools/technologies

    • Experience developing, implementing, and/or executing a corrective action program or continuous learning program

    $91,000.00 - $136,600.00
