    Job Description

    Supervises the staff and activities of the carpentry shop to ensure the operation, control, service, construction, and maintenance throughout the campus, ensuring all jobs are preformed to department standards are in compliance with all local and federal authorities.

    Job Responsibility

    • Promotes Carpentry department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.

    • Leads the activities of assigned Carpentry team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.

    • Performs senior functions relating to the carpentry shop for various assignments throughout the facility; has a strong working knowledge of the carpentry and construction trades.

    • Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.

    • Partners with project manager to determine scope of projects i.e., safety assessments, labor, customer expectations, materials, equipment, shuts downs, etc. and develop project schedules.

    • Coordinates and leads the execution of construction projects; completes 'take off' from drawing to pre-order materials and complete layouts for new projects and assists with estimating.

    • Communicates construction details with outside architects and design Engineers to ensure details are fully functional and serve the needs of the hospital; schedules and manages the in-house labor and procures required materials and equipment.

    • Collaborates with outside contractors when required, to plan and complete tasks beyond the ability of the In-House team; coordinates area shut downs and shut down notifications for projects and service requests.

    • Collaborates with other trade supervisors in the department to plan and execute projects as per drawings and scope; ensures project plans for in-house staff are carried out according to building code requirements, safety regulations, organization standards and regulatory requirements; oversees adherence to the Pre Construction Risk Assessment (PCRA) plans.

    • Ensures in-house construction staff is trained and adheres to safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE), participation in 'Tool Box Talks', safety procedures for 'Hot Work Permits' and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

    • Informs and collaborates with management daily issues, challenges and ongoing project status; maintains safety reports, incident reports, project schedules, hours worked reports and status reports; supervises and coordinates with the construction team and other Engineering shops any new construction and service work on the campus are completed in the safest manner.

    Job Qualification

    • Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

    • 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.

    • Carpentry experience, preferred.

    • Commercial experience, preferred.

    • Valid NY State Driver's License, preferred.

    The salary range for this position is $79,880-$136,340/year
