    Job Overview

    TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid CAD Models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create detailed designs and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or customer requirements and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing, operation, or quality of products. Typical fields of expertise include plastic design, sheet metal design, engineering materials, physics, electrical, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, and mechanical products.

    Short Description

    • The Staff R&D Product Development Engineer will be responsible for New Product Development and Product Life Cycle Management (PLM).

    • Ensures product manufacturability, responsible for fit, form, and function of assigned products.

    • Create & modify drawings/3D models and engineering BOMs and release them using PLM systems.

    • Define, write, and maintain product engineering documentation.

    • Define failure modes, root causes, and corrective actions and support Quality with field problems.

    • Work with Project Managers to provide timely & accurate information for the assigned projects.

    • Ensure assigned project tasks are completed as per the project plan.

    • Complete product verification using simulation, prototype testing, and final product qualification testing.

    • Work with global engineering, manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.

    • Work with safety agencies, foreign and domestic, to meet product compliance requirements.

    • Responsible for engineering changes and Product Change Notifications (PCN) for new and existing products.

    • Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.

    What your background should look like:

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field)

    • At least 10 year's experience

    • Expert in the design of complex molded plastic and stamped products

    • Hands-on experience with CAD software (Creo or similar), Simulation (Ansys or similar), and rapid prototyping for product verification

    • Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings and geometric tolerances (GD&T)

    • Knowledge of associated manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, plating, and assembly)

    • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and establish priorities based on work requirements and internal/external customer expectations.

    • Experience in testing requirements and techniques for product qualification.

    • General knowledge of industry specifications such as UL, IEC, and EIA are desirable.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate Globally at all levels internally and externally.

    • Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage projects with minimal supervision. This includes multiple projects and multitasking situations, with the ability to prioritize, set, and achieve goals.

    COMPENSATION

    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $127,920 - $191,880 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

    • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

    • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
