  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides and supervises patient care in psychotherapy, behavior therapy, or other counseling interventions to patients with neurological disorders.

    • Participates in research, specialty treatment and program development.

    • May provide clinical supervision and professional training to physician residents, psychologists pending licensure, and Medical Center personnel.

    • May conduct neuropsychological evaluations such as assessments of intelligence, academic ability, attention, concentration, sensory-motor function, language, learning and memory.

    II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Essential: standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, frequent gripping of an object.

    • Frequent: walking and repetitive arm/hand motions.

    • Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, lifting and carrying weight up to 30 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

    • Operates computers, psychological and neuropsychological assessments equipment, telephones, electronic/media equipment.

    III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

    IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • Current Hawaii State license as a Psychologist.

    • Doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, PsyD) in psychology from an accredited university or professional school approved by the American Psychological Association.

    • Current certification in BLS/HCP.

    B. EXPERIENCE:

    • One (1) year post-doctoral experience in professional psychology.

    • Previous hospital-based practice experience preferred.

    • Experience to demonstrate:

    o Knowledge of social services agencies, state regulations and APA standards as they relate to client treatment, patient rights and client/patient confidentiality, and other ethical issues.

    o Ability in psychotherapy, assessment, and clinical research.

    o Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.

    • Supervisory, training, and consultation experience preferred.

    Assignment to Comprehensive Weight Management Center

    • Previous bariatric practice experience preferred.

    Assignment to Behavioral Health Departments

    • Experience with psychometric testing including projective measures.
