    UW Medical Center-Northwest - Rehabilitation Therapies has an outstanding opportunity for a SPEECH PATHOLOGIST - INPATIENT. WORK SCHEDULE * 60% FTE; 24 hours per week * Day Shift

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The Speech Therapist provides evaluation and treatment of patients experiencing communication disorders of all types, as well as select swallowing disorders. This includes adults, geriatrics, and/or adolescents, both inpatient and outpatient.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Reviews physician's referral and patient's medical record, reviews diagnosis, and screens/evaluates communication disorders including functional/organic speech, language, voice, fluency cognitive/communication and select swallowing disorders * Develops a treatment plan * Evaluates and monitors patient's progression and makes appropriate adjustments to treatment plan to achieve maximum benefit * In individual or group settings, treats and manages patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders such as: a. Neurogenic communication disorders: aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria and cognitive/communication deficits. b. Maxillofacial, laryngeal and other head and neck disorders. c. Functional speech, language, voice and fluency disorders (i.e., vocal hyperfunction, stuttering, etc.). d. Swallowing disorders including pseudobulbar, bulbar, mechanical and functional dysphagia. * Provides written reports for each patient, including initial evaluation; progress, summary, and discharge reports; progress notes for each treatment session; physician certification/billing questionnaires and other relevant reports/documentation as needed * Provides counseling, education/training and guidance to patients, patient's families and caregivers as appropriate * Confers with patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement, and assess the treatment program * Acts as a consultant and promotes program to educational, medical, social, dental, and other professional groups * Complies with procedures for maintenance, cleaning, and ordering of departmental supplies and equipment

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. AND A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. * One year of experience as a speech pathologist, audiologist, or equivalent is preferred. * Current Washington State license to practice as a Speech Pathologist.
