    Universal Destinations & Experiences is a fully integrated, in-house finance and sourcing department conducting primary research from Request for Proposal (RFP) development, data processing, field work, cost modeling and compilation of information to final analysis, contract negotiation and reporting. The Sourcing Specialist will review and analyze a wide range of projects and purchase requisitions including capital and expense items and services; investigate and develop sources of supplies and services, prepare scopes of works, bid specifications; issue bid requests and review proposals. Also requires interpretation of purchasing procedures to departments and vendors, as a specialist in assigned material categories, which require a high degree of operations and technical knowledge based on sourcing category.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee vendor qualification, questionnaires, vendor set-up and vendor record maintenance

    • Provides input, support, and execution on initiatives for continuous improvement within the department (SOP's, reference documents, visual aids, database creation, etc.).

    • Communicates proactively and effectively with stakeholders and suppliers

    • Leverages industry associations, network, peers and stakeholders to proactively provide market trends and new technology

    • Builds and fosters relationships and effectively partners across varied functions with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and colleagues to influence change

    • Project Management: Drives completion of multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with respective business unit

    • Proactively considers new alternatives and drives critical thinking to optimize results

    • Develops, evaluates, and presents business cases, cost/benefit analysis, executive summaries to stakeholders

    • Knowledgeable on the Strategic Sourcing process, drafting of contract scopes, financial reviews and procurement practices

    • Contributes significantly to the achievement of defined category performance targets and participates in or leads competitive RFPs as necessary

    • Independently negotiates commercial and performance aspects of outsourcing agreements - strong understanding of pricing models, SLAs, benchmarking, technical scope criteria required

    • RFP creation, distribution, tracking, scheduling, analysis and management of process (job walks, vendor presentations, vendor scorecards, etc.).

    • Leverage market knowledge and understanding of industry trends to identity best practices and achieve performance goals for the category

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to cover various commodities such as Technical Services (i.e. construction, facilities, MRO), Entertainment Production (i.e. scenic, lighting, audio), Park Operations (i.e. consumables, wardrobe)

    • Perform data/spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction, TCO, and value creation

    • Develop and implement vendor metrics for reporting and achievements which include; supplier performance, financial performance and footprint issues

    • Data mining, modeling, analysis with the creation of custom reports

    • Governance of vendor sourcing agreements

    • Manage/mitigate vendor risks, business continuity and security

    • Acts as liaison with vendors to ensure organizational needs are met

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university - preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain or related degree

    • 1-2 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, finance, or related field

    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    • Critical thinking skills. Must have both quantitative and qualitative market research experience

    • Experience working with financials, budgets and cost models

    • Ability to interpret and utilize key financial data; can tell a story with data

    • Must have strong multitasking capabilities, project management skills and the ability to work effectively in an environment with tight deadlines

    • Must be self-directed and able to work independently but also able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented department

    • Ability to learn and become subject matter expert quickly

    • Proven ability to foster and maintain working relationships, internally and externally

    • Experience directly negotiating with suppliers

    • Complies with all NBCUniversal/Universal Studios Hollywood policies

    • Occasional travel may be required

    • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
