Job Summary

Genesis House, located in the Meatpacking Area of Manhattan is seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our premier dining establishment. If you have a passion for culinary excellence, experience in fine dining, and a background in Asian cuisine, we encourage you to apply. Speaking and writing Korean is a plus.

Fine dining Asian cuisine experience a plus!

This position requires flexible availability Tuesday through Sunday with operational hours from 11a.m. to 9pm.

Open from 11am to 9pm Tuesday to Sunday, Genesis House and Studio offers a curated Korean Tea menu and elevated Korean light bites in the afternoon. Dinner service starts at 5pm, showcasing the traditions of elevated Korean cuisine.

As a Senior Sous Chef at Genesis House, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our culinary operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.

• Collaborating with the culinary team to plan and create menus.

• Introducing new culinary programs in collaboration with the marketing and culinary departments.

• Assisting in managing cost controls and controlling expenditures to maintain efficiency.

• Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the kitchen.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sous Chef.

• Fine dining experience is preferred, especially in Asian cuisine.

• Knowledge of food and industry trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.

• Strong supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.

• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.

• Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel.

• An Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
