    Our team is searching for a Research Technician II, who is focused on contributing to the Chemical Monomer Team's effort to support our position in the wood binder and asphalt markets. You will support our team in lab testing and customer trials in the wood and asphalt industries.

    As a Research Technician II you will...

    • Work closely with a customer focused team of commercial management, technical experts, and operations personnel driving innovation, also working closely with Wyandotte Site Safety personnel to represent the Conversion Lab in RCMS work audits, and other safety related activities.

    • Conduct research and development in an asphalt binder laboratory and wood panel laboratory and conduct aid in technical comparison of BASF products vs. competitive products in industry-specific application tests and communicates results.

    • Support the testing and development of composite wood panel and asphalt binder related solutions. Complete technical application tests of products for troubleshooting to derive product recommendations and/or formulation recommendations by using multiple product lines of the portfolio and for support of growth opportunities and recommendations for next steps.

    • Support the technical team with trial equipment maintenance, operation, and daily laboratory activities.

    • Ensure and works in compliance with EH&S and ASTM / ISO standards. Some domestic & international travel is required for customer technical trials and visits.

    • Provides quality assurance management support (production and/or customer) and MDI related monitoring activities at Customer facilities.

    If you...

    • 2+ years of experience working in a lab. Prefer: R & D product spec. testing

    • High School Diploma

    • Prefer experience in technical support of end users at customers and field.

    • Prefer: Working knowledge of ASTM standards

    • Prefer: Experience in industrial manufacturing plant environment.
