  • The Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will coordinate and administer research studies in the Cerebrovascular Division at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This position coordinates day-to-day tasks related to designing, implementing, and completing complex clinical research projects. The coordinator will ensure that research protocols are carried out correctly, including all documentation, administrative tasks, and regulatory issues. They will work with others in a research team environment and will be responsible for screening potential participants, recruiting subjects for research studies, collecting and documenting relevant research data, and maintaining data record systems. Study visits will occur at multiple Hopkins facilities.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day clinical research operations and serve as the primary contact for research related administrative and regulatory tasks (e.g. IRB compliance).

    • Screen patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting at multiple Hopkins sites for eligibility in ongoing research studies.

    • Approach eligible patients for consent into appropriate research studies.

    • Coordinate research visits including scheduling and facilitating research procedures (e.g. MRI scans).

    • Conduct telephone-based interviews (e.g. cognitive assessments).

    • Implement and maintain data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; including the management of data, paper files, and electronic databases.

    • Maintain good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.

    • Develop and maintain records of research activities and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators and/or regulatory bodies.

    • Assist the Principal Investigator in developing and implementing study operating procedures related to recruitment, retention, study visits, and data storage while ensuring that quality control procedures are adhered to.

    • Responsible for the oversight of data collection, database entry, and accurate record keeping of all study-related information.

    Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Solid planning and organizational skills.

    • Sound working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases for data entry and retrieval.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to multiple worksites.

    • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
