    About You and This Role

    Dow's Post-Reactor Extrusion & Process R&D has an exciting opportunity for R&D/TS&D Technician in Freeport, Texas. The primary focus of this position will be supporting pilot-scale compounding & extrusion process development across multiple businesses within Packaging & Specialty Plastic division. You will work in diverse teams and are expected to have strong communication skills. You will learn and be responsible for lab safety and maintenance activities. You need to be a team player, have good prioritization and organizational skills, and demonstrate competencies in the areas of initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.

    Responsibilities

    • Conducts development efforts on assigned compounding & extrusion projects in the pilot plants.

    • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvement, and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.

    • Ensures safe and efficient operation of equipment. Applies technical proficiency to lead safe and efficient operation of assigned areas.

    • Supports the installation and commission of extrusion equipment in compliance with Dow's EH&S standard.

    • Responsible for safe operation and routine maintenance of simple and complex instruments, machinery, and system components, including production equipment. Ensures equipment maintained and operated at high level to support regional compounding & extrusion projects.

    • Communicates scientific observations to project team, organizes and prepares data tables and charts for inclusion in supported studies.

    • Trains contractors on specific work processes, equipment, and machinery.

    Required Qualifications

    • A minimum of an Associate's degree in a science related discipline/Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) and 1 year of relevant work experience; OR High school diploma/GED and 3 years of relevant work experience; OR Post-secondary education with a minimum of 20 hrs. in science related courses + relative work experience

    • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be willing and able to do the following

    • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes

    • Wear and use respirators.

    • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting of 50 lbs of weight

    • Climb stairs/ladders

    • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

    Preferred Skills

    • Previous experiences with extrusion & compounding technology.

    • General mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot process.

    • Digital skillsets and experience in compounding area.
