  • Ford Manufacturing IT is working on developing the smartest factories in the world through enhanced automation and connectivity, enabled by advanced Internet of Things (IoT) solutions utilizing advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. As part of this, a new Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Platform has been established to align existing initiatives, enable development of new scalable solutions, and drive democratization of data and analytics.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice; design and ensure User Adoption

    • Work as a collaborative team member with business partners, developers, and fellow designers

    • Lead products from discovery and create frameworks through iterative development and delivery

    • Help product managers assess and prioritize opportunities and constraints

    • Guide product decisions through user research and iterative feedback loops

    • Rapidly iterate design prototypes and working applications

    • Conduct user testing, interviews, and analysis

    • Develop visual identity systems, data visualizations, visual design, illustrations, etc.

    • Produce materials for business partners and developers, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, live style guides, and assets

    • Design a total customer experience, including process, communication, and potentially physical space in addition to the IT interface

    • Work with development staff collaboratively to modulate wireframes and mockups to function within the constraints of the development platform

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Design Related experience

    • 3+ Years of experience in User-Centered Design, including wireframing, usability principles, screen layout design and user testing

    • 1+ years of experience designing full-service consumer and/or business applications

    • Experience in manufacturing-centric design

    • Ability to work with in-plant personnel as required to gather requirements, conduct user testing, and meet with end users

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with designing mobile interfaces and understanding the major mobile OS visual/UX paradigms

    • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as facilitation and presentation skills, and engaging presentation style.

    • Ability to work as a global team member, as well as independently, in a changing environment and managing multiple priorities.

    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with application implementation teams, IT project teams, business customers, and end users.

    • Ability to deliver work within deadlines.
