As a Power Engineer in Research and Development you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

    As a Power Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

    • Maintain a detailed understanding of electric power systems and how to protect, monitor, and control the power system.

    • Assist in innovating power system protection solutions by developing algorithms to protect, control and monitor power system apparatus such as generators, motors, transformers, feeders etc.

    • Assist in developing simulation models of power system in Matlab, ATPDraw, RTDS etc. to validate and test the developed algorithms.

    • Assist in developing product specifications, develop and analyze functional tests.

    • Assist with application literature, instruction manuals, and data sheets.

    • Provide power engineering support for customer applications and Field Application Engineers.

    • Author technical papers to present at technical meetings and conferences.

    • Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

    This job might be for you if

    • You have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

    • You have 2+ years' experience in electric power systems, protection practices, and philosophies.

    • You have experience working in industrial and distribution power systems, and the ability to communicate those experiences.

    • You have working knowledge of apparatus and protective relay application at an electrical utility or industrial plant.

    Salary Range Data We anticipate filling this position as a Power Engineer $76,100 - $118,900 . We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
