  • Chewy is looking for a talented Photographer to join our in-house studio team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for capturing pet-related content while partnering with creative, production, art, and pet teams to deliver best-in-class, on-brand photography that resonates with our customers.

    What you'll do

    • Collaborate closely with Photo Art Directors and Senior Photographers to capture authentic pet lifestyle and product photography that meets the brief.

    • Prepare sets, check that all equipment is functioning, and set up appropriate lighting to match brand guidelines.

    • Work with a variety of different pets, ensuring their comfort and safety to capture them in various actions and locations.

    • Effectively communicate with on-set team members to ensure the production is set up for success to deliver the photos on time.

    • Proactively address any challenges and/or technical issues that arise during pre-production or on set to successfully deliver on the requests.

    • Upload, organize, and tag photo assets to maintain and build a digital library for easy access and retrieval.

    • Consistently complete assigned projects and tasks in Workfront.

    • Support maintaining photography equipment, including cameras and lighting to ensure optimal image quality.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, particularly within pet photography, to continually improve the quality and relevance of our photography.

    What you'll need

    • Minimum 3+ years of experience preferably within a studio environment that supports brand marketing campaigns.

    • A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in lifestyle and studio lighting techniques.

    • Experience in operating DSLR cameras, as well as both strobe and continuous lighting equipment, along with working in Capture One software.

    • A creative eye to translate concepts into a variety of visually compelling shots and angles with a photojournalistic approach.

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from creative leads.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

    • Agile movement, quick reflexes, and endurance to capture dynamic lifestyle-in-action photography.

    • Familiarity with media asset management (MAM) systems or digital asset management (DAM) systems (such as Iconik, Bynder, AEM DAM, or other platforms) is preferred.

    • Physical capability to lift and maneuver lighting equipment and gear, as well as the flexibility and comfort to work a pet's perspective.

    • Passion for pets and a genuine understanding of their behavior and characteristics to effectively capture their essence in photos.

    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed. Travel expectation ~5%
