    Where you fit in

    Reports to the Senior Tech and the Director of Pharmacy. Works under the supervision of staff pharmacists to assist in providing pharmaceutical care as part of an integrated quality system of patient care. Prepares, delivers, documents, and controls medication supply and distribution. Communicates effectively with pharmacists and other health care professionals and works to improve the medication use process. Other responsibilities are carried out as required for the effective, safe, or efficient functioning and operation of the Hospital.

    Your Exceptional skills and Qualifications

    • Prepares medications, including IV solutions, TPN, chemotherapy, compounded items, and controlled substances for dispensing by selecting the appropriate products, calculating and performing accurate measurement of dosage, packaging the dosage form, and preparing and affixing appropriate labeling.

    • Delivers new medication orders in time for scheduled administration. Delivers and exchanges unit dose medication cassettes, verifying the correct room assignments of patients and that each drawer is correctly stocked. Replenishes patient care area floor stock and emergency drugs, Delivers controlled substances to patient care areas. Prepares and delivers meds to Pyxis station.

    • Maintains records as required by law and for quality patient care, including controlled substances records and inventory.

    • Orders, receives, and restocks medications and supplies. Rotates stock and reviews expiration dates.

    • Communicates effectively with other health professionals and provides information concerning the medication use process.

    • Responsible for coordinating one or more areas of departmental responsibility as mutually agreed upon with the Director of Pharmacy.

    • High School Diploma or GED : The level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of high school. (Required)

    • Required CertIfications/Licensures: (Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA). If licensed as Pharmacy Intern (IPLA) you do not need to be nationally certified with PTCB or NHA.)
