  • TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Network Technician for a 6 month contract to hire role with a very reputable organization! Candidates must be based out of the Tampa, FL area.

    Description

    Seeking an experienced Network Technician with Vendor Management skills to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of our organization's network infrastructure. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of network-related goods and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge in network technology, experience managing vendor relationships, and excellent communication skills. This role does include 50%+ travel as the company has various offices from Naples up to Gainesville area. Candidate will work from home on days they are not travelling(average travel around 2-3 days per week.)

    Primary Key Performance Areas

    KPA 1 - Network Management Support

    • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot network issues, and ensure optimal network performance and availability.

    • Work with internal teams to identify and implement network security measures to protect against external threats.

    • Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of network-related goods and services, including negotiating pricing and contracts.

    • Good knowledge of power and electrical systems as it relates to UPSs, PDUs, Network Rack installation and other low voltage cable ie: Ethernet / Fiber optic including related transceivers

    • Support and maintenance for IDF closets, analog / IP based phones, ISP provided circuits, POTS Lines Provisions switch ports, installs patch cables and maintains cable management standards

    • Good knowledge on structured cabling system

    • Develop and maintain vendor management processes, including vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management.

    • Work with vendors to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

    • Provide training and support to end-users on network-related issues.

    • Pulling, termination, and testing of Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable

    • Build out MDF/IDFs Installation of Wireless Access Points (WAPs)

    • Install J Hooks, D-rings, cable tray, and other supports

    • Read blueprints

    • Develop and maintain documentation related to network infrastructure and vendor relationships.

    KPA 2 - Network Operations

    • Assist with planning, organizing and coordinating operation aspect and ongoing maintenance of the data local and wide area network.

    • Document network technical and application related issues by entering customer service tickets using ticketing system.

    • Involved in network troubleshooting, routing escalation and correcting network issues.

    • Document and monitor network issues to ensure timely resolution and communication to customers.

    KPA 3 - Service Quality

    • Coordinate and prioritize work schedules with supervisor to accomplish customer and end user objectives to assure high levels of service and quality.

    • Ensure and strive to provide quality network support to all IT customers.

    • Provide 24/7 escalation support to all network systems.

    • Work on the network related issues assigned by management and provide timely status updates as necessary.

    • Provide support for IT customer support initiatives, including, but not limited to products, software, compliance, billing and vendor relations.

    • Respond, resolve and track IT customer complaints and escalated issues.

    KPA 4 - Inventory Management

    • Maintain accurate inventory of all company Network infrastructure including (SDWAN, Switches, Access Points) software, hardware, configurations, circuit, and overall Asset Management.

    • Maintain all IT equipment in safe and working order.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    Position Qualifications/Requirements

    1. Education: Associate or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields required.

    2. Certifications/Licenses:

    3. Valid state Driver's License for travel to satellite offices. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.

    4. Previous Experience:

    5. Proven experience as a Network Technician, Structured Cabling Tech or in a similar role

      • Strong knowledge and experience with Switching.
    6. Basic knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols

    7. At least 3 years of experience in network technology, including LAN/WAN infrastructure, network security, and wireless networking.

    8. Experience managing relationships with external vendors.

    9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    11. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    12. Strong knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA)

    13. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

    14. Industry certifications such as CCENT, CCNA, or Network+ are a plus.
