    The Mechanical Technician (HVAC) shall provide operation, repair, and maintenance for mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and electrical systems at the Component Research Air Facility and other facilities supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB).

    Responsibilities

    • Provide operation, repair, and maintenance for mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

    • Conduct field work, site investigations, and design calculations.

    • Install new commercial-size HVAC equipment per manufacturer's instructions.

    • Install hydraulic and pneumatic piping.

    • Install high-pressure pneumatic piping.

    • Repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment.

    • Repair and maintenance of vacuum systems and pumps.

    • Complete annual company and customer-required training, as required.

    • Complete timesheets daily in an online system according to company policies and procedures.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school degree or GED equivalent required.

    • 8+ years plus technical experience or training as a mechanical technician with emphasis in HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair OR

    • Trade school or in a related college-level technical curriculum shall be considered equal experience time; however, 5+ years of on-the-job technical experience is required.

    • Public Trust/NACI required to start.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Must practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.

    • Must be familiar with Level-1 Tool control and regulations.

    • Must possess personal basic hand tools and toolboxes and use them as required.

    • Advanced working knowledge to diagnose mechanical equipment failures and provide solutions.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Platform software.

    • Ability to perform assembly, basic to complex modifications, and installation of equipment and systems from design drawings and/or sketches following accepted engineering practices.

    • Ability to repair, and maintenance mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

    • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and equipment manuals correctly.

    • Ability to comply with applicable codes and standards of contract.

    • Ability to pass customer security requirements required.

    • Ability to attend all customer in-person meetings and conferences as required.

    • Ability to work nights and weekends as required.

    • Travel up to 10% as required.
