  • Overview

    This 6-month contract Mechanical Engineer will be accountable for assisting the Charger Engineering team with updating the mechanical engineering design for products recently migrated from MiSys to Arena PLM. The Engineer will work with the other designers to correct discrepancies between SolidWorks PDM, MiSys, and the Arena PLM databases. Changes will be communicated to the Product Engineers (Configuration Management) for ECO release in Arena, with follow up exporting of product drawings, STEP files & BOMs to the Technical Data Center by the Product Engineers.

    Responsibilities

    Product Development

    • Creates or updates 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies

    • Confirms design changes match MiSys data currently used in Production

    • Coordinates ECO release of verified changes with Product Engineers

    • Liaises with other Mechanical Engineers and other departments as required

    • Maintains engineering standards and follow Stryten product development and release processes

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering product development

    • Understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009

    • Excellent understanding of mechanical principles and tolerancing

    • Proficient in Solidworks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    • Strong English language, verbal communication and writing skills required

    • Experience and understanding of one or several of the following areas is preferred: lithium-ion or lead acid batteries for industrial applications (e.g. forklifts), mechanical designs for high power battery charger products, product configuration management

    WORK ENVIRONMENT (include physical requirements)

    • Office based environment

    • Occasional on-site visits to manufacturing

    • Occasional short-term travel may be required
