    SUMMARY: They are seeking a Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect to join their growing Landscape Design Team. In this position, the Landscape Designer assists senior staff with their ongoing landscape architecture projects. Tasks include assisting in the preparation of concept plans, site plans, details, construction drawings, site analysis, and presentation graphics. Experience should be in the field of landscape architecture or related disciplines including but not limited to, landscape architecture, planning, construction, horticulture, environmental and sustainable principles, and other related disciplines. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Landscape architecture and design professional with technical competency and an understanding of best practices. DAY-TO-DAY: Collaborates with senior staff on the design packages for projects such as; healthcare facilities, regional trails, urban plazas, residential developments, large commercial centers, and corporate campuses. Analyzes data on conditions such as site location, drainage, or structure location for environmental reports or landscaping plans. Integrates existing and proposed land features and structures into designs. Prepares plans using CAD software. Selects appropriate materials for use in landscape designs. Analyzes environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage. Assists in the preparation of landscape plans, site plans, hardscape details, construction drawings, site analysis, and presentation graphics. Coordinates the preparation of project drawings, exhibits, and calculations with other engineers, designers and technicians. Communicates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to the project. Seeks appropriate guidance in resolving various project related issues. Manages time effectively, organizes, and works on multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet project deadlines and client needs. Visits project sites to review conditions as appropriate. Develop and prepare graphic designs, renderings, Ability to prepare construction documents and specifications. Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively. Develop site plans and understand topography. Develop technical drawings: grading, layout, planting plans, details, etc Will be based out of their Detroit office. Could work out of Lansing office or Rochester Hills or Novi office as well. If candidate would like a fully remote role, they would consider if candidate had great experience. They would like the candidate to spend 2 days/week in Lansing office for the first 4-6 weeks to get trained by Bob Ford, the lead LA. after that, the person can work out of any office OR can work fully remote if they prefer that. They would still need to be able to attend an occasional community engagement meeting, visit a job site, and/or attend a team meeting in one of their local offices. They would like to have the candidate provide a flash drive or a google drive link of a construction drawing set that they worked on so they can see their CAD methods. This will tell them a lot on the technical side for the candidate once we identify someone. This person could work on a wide variety of projects, including government, K-12, municipal, parks and recreation, streetscapes, urban development, public housing development, or various other projects.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    MUST HAVES: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering degree Proficiency in: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). 3 plus years of experience preparing schematic design, design development, and construction documents for various site development projects Working knowledge of landscape and native plants in the Midwest region Experience working in a landscape architectural office, or other type of professional design office , and/or architectural firm, or an engineering firm. Experience in one or more of these areas: Government, schools, housing development, land development, Parks and Recreation planning , or other types of planning BONUS: Urban Planning or Site Development experience Project Management skills Ruction Management skills Cost Estimating skills City of Detroit project experience Licensed DISQUALIFIERS: all residential project experience no experience working for an architectural/engineering firm
