Lab Technician

Shift: 2 p.m. - 10 p.m / during their training, which can take up to 3 months or more, they are working and training on 1st shift, but will have to switch to 2nd shift afterwards

Description

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

2. Through guidance provided by the Laboratory Manager, and in a safe, legal and ethical manner, the

3. Laboratory Analyst - Chemist or Laboratory Technician performs duties to support analytical testing for the company and its clients and to maintain associated records, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost effective.

4. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

5. Receives, examines and records through a login process, inbound samples for testing.

6. Delivers test samples to the sample staging area.

7. Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes, and makes any needs for such

8. supplies known to the Laboratory Manager.

9. After showing and documenting proficiency for the task, performs testing of samples and quality control

10. specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results against specifications and known

11. expectations. May be delegated to issue analyzes to clients.

12. Prepares samples and quality control specimens, prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions,

13. and calibrates equipment needed for the testing processes.

14. Verifies and communicates results obtained, and makes appropriate entries into instrument logs,

15. control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or

16. electronic, required, assuring the validity and traceability of the information.

17. Maintains documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.

18. With sufficient proficiency shown and documented, is able to assists in the training of less experienced

19. employees.

20. Carries out all of the above responsibilities in a supportive manner with adherence to the Company's

21. Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Management System, Ethics Policy, Environmental

22. Management System, Vision and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and

23. diplomacy.
