    Compensation Overview

    The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

    Salary Range

    $96,700.00 - $159,600.00

    What Is the Opportunity?

    At Travelers, we want to ensure our work can be done as efficient and effective as possible to deliver top-tier service and products to our customers, employees, and clients. The Technology Operations Center provides assistance for the technology needs of employees. As the Senior Technology Operations Engineer you will support either the Incident Response Team or the Problem Management Team within the Technology Operations Center. You will manage and provide technology solutions for basic and complex issues for lines of business and/or technology areas across the enterprise. As a Sr. Technology Operations Engineer you will work in a fast-paced environment and leverage your collaboration and incident correlation skills as well as your thorough understanding of operations of infrastructure technologies.

    The hours for this role are Wednesday through Friday Evenings (and every other Saturday) 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

    What Will You Do?

    • Drive troubleshooting of network infrastructure and services, respond to alerts, create solutions, and provide customer support.

    • Resolve tasks that require critical thinking and follow documented actions or instructions to complete the work.

    • Collaborate with peers to proactively identify potential issues and areas of improvements in existing network environment.

    • Provide input to develop and/or redesign solutions while consulting with application areas and business units to provide technology recommendations and solutions to support business needs.

    • Build, leverage, and maintain effective alliances across technical and business communities to achieve efficient and effective results.

    • Flexibility and willingness to work rotational off hours for on-call support with minimal notice given.

    • Determine and resolve of technological problems.

    • Identify and tackle infrastructure root causes using the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process.

    • Remediate and improve resiliency of faulting systems.

    • Improve troubleshooting documentation with the Incident Response Team.

    • Provide input to develop and/or redesign solutions with partnership from application and engineering teams.

    • Build, leverage, and maintain effective alliances across technical and business communities to achieve efficient and effective results.

    • Flexibility and willingness to work rotational off hours for on-call support with minimal notice given.

    • Multitasks according to business priorities and production availability requirements.

    • Act as a Problem Process Ambassador to the Technology and Operations organization by providing assistance and guidance through the problem management process to others who are not familiar or experienced with the process.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

    • Knowledge and experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library processes and event management.

    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into relevant business terms.

    • Demonstrated independently research, analyze and pinpoint root cause of significant system outages in pressure situations and provides recommendations and can understand what corrective actions are necessary to resolve and restore services to critical business systems.

    • Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and follow through to ensure timely completion.

    • Exemplify the ability to provide critical system support and service across Middleware technologies including Application and Web servers, SSO technologies, Automation tools, scripting, monitoring and analysis tools, and/or network technologies.

    • Strong technical aptitude with the ability and initiative to quickly learn new infrastructure technologies and deploy new concepts and technologies (i.e. Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Platform, Azure, OpenShift Container Platform, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, MuleSoft).

    • 4-year degree program preferred

    • Five years of hands-on experience independently supporting complex workflows and creating solutions in a large organization.
