Job Description Summary

Supervise employees and contractors who perform maintenance activities across the Salt Lake City campus. Exercise independent discretion in supervising and performing a full array of maintenance related work requiring skill in trouble shooting, repairing, installation necessary to ensure efficient facility operation. Manage quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. Demonstrates the ability to rearrange the sequence of task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and lead a team of technicians and contractors.

• Manage facilities vendors. Interact with external parties and communicate technical information to others. Represent GEHC externally.

• Utilize project management skills, planning tools, and office suite.

• Develop basic understanding of key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish work of the team. Understand how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

• Ensure that all campus premises are fully operational, maintained, and clean. This includes coverage of internal and external facilities management across the Salt Lake campus.

• Drive a maintenance program, including PM's, project plans, layout work, and planning of equipment installations.

• Expand facilities knowledge as needed to execute policy/strategy.

• Demonstrate autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework.

• Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

• Perform hands on activities. Execute basic facilities tasks, maintenance activities, rough carpentry, general mechanical work, and moderate lifting/moving of material.

• Work at heights, including fixed and portable ladder use, scissor lift and rooftop activities.

• Work, at times, outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

• Drive short-distances, including dock operations & maneuvering of a commercial box truck to various locations.

• Transport material safely between GE operation buildings.

• Understand OSHA and EHS requirements.

• Work with others to implement injury prevention and compliance initiatives.

• Assist in compliance inspections and EHS program implementation as requested.

Quality Specific Goals

• Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position

• Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

• Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

• Knowledge and understanding of production process work instructions and operates within them to ensure that equipment conforms to its specifications

• Ensures the creation of accurate, complete, and timely records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment)

• Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing facility maintenance

• Thorough understanding of facility support systems including electrical, heating/cooling, and plumbing systems

• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license (non-CDL)

• Obtain a DOT Medical Examiners Certificate within 90 days of employment and maintain the certification

• Successfully complete a written and practical driving exam for type of vehicle operated

• Pass a pre-employment motor vehicle background screening, and annually thereafter
