    Jacobs Nuclear Projects and Consulting (Jacobs) provides safe and innovative solutions to our customers at nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction. We are currently executing many contracts, performing work that is essential to our clients' missions across a broad range of functional areas, and one contract in particular is near the Idaho Falls area.

    We are looking to hire a Team Oriented Purchasing Professional, who may have a limited working knowledge of Federal Contracting. The candidate will be responsible for making purchases in accordance with Jacobs' company procurement policies.

    The candidate must act professionally and be able to work independently on assignments using judgment and creativity in solving problems while providing recommendations to management on possible solutions. The individual must have sound organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. This is a great opportunity for a candidate to be part of a team of Contracts and Procurement Professionals who are driven to provide exceptional service to both our internal and government clients. The work location is in the Idaho Falls, ID area and some work may be performed at the SFHP Jacobs Construction Site in Scoville, ID.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Processes and completes simple to complex purchase requests; seeks prices from available vendors which meet cost and quality guidelines; places orders; verifies receipt of purchase; cradle to grave purchase responsibility.

    • Maintains detailed documentation to complete Subcontract/P.O. contract file administration.

    • Conducts negotiations with suppliers to ensure end-users needs are met; negotiates delivery; terms and conditions, and pricing.

    • Solicits vendors for materials, products and services through formal Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and informal channels. Receives and evaluates proposals, quotations, and bids for acquisitions. Make recommendation on potential awardee(s).

    • Maintains communication with suppliers during the course of procurements in order to ensure timely delivery and payment while maintaining compliance with the requirements of the procurement documents.

    • Establishes relationships with new suppliers and develops new supply sources.

    • Analyzes bids for specification compliance, prices, delivery commitments and past performance. Communicates with the requester as necessary.

    • Recommend possible process improvements which would provide consistency and efficiency to the role.

    • Collaborates with others and/or work within cross-functional teams to address challenges, institute lessons learned, and achieve the objectives of the project.

    • Works with a high degree of independence. Assignments are prioritized and may rapidly change depending on deliverables. Considerable latitude and judgement are exercised to meet procurement, program, and company deadlines.

    Here's what you'll need :

    • Degree in Business or related discipline preferred, or 5-10 years of purchasing experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

    • Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills required. Above average writing skills need to be logical and succinct.

    • Computer literate and document creation/production of PDFs and Microsoft Office products (i.e., minimum skills required working in Excel, WORD, and email)

    • Sole USA citizenship (no dual citizenship)

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Experience with government purchases, i.e., DOE or DOD

    • Experience using financial reporting software such as PeopleSoft, a product by Oracle.

    • Exposure to government property administration.

    Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to heights.
