    Coding and Charge Capture has an outstanding opportunity for a Documentation and Coding Consultant Work Schedule

    • 100% Full Time

    • Monday - Friday DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Documentation and Coding Consultant is responsible for performing daily activities related to working in a consultative capacity to identify opportunities for complete and accurate documentation and coding, in strong partnership with CCC staff and leadership, UWP Compliance, and UWP FPPS Physician Services team.

    The Documentation and Coding Consultant will support the clinical departments and coding teams that that generate $400+M in professional fee revenues for over 4,000 of physicians and will provide coding support for initiatives that improve efficiency and increase coding accuracy. The work performed by the Documentation and Coding Consultant may have high level visibility to FPPS Coding leadership, clinical departments, UWP Compliance and Documentation Excellence leadership.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide expert consultation to FPPS clinicians as assigned on coding and documentation education and questions. Review and verify component parts of the medical records, retrospectively, to ensure the accuracy of documentation and coding, including but not limited to CMS coding rules and guidelines.

    • Provide virtual and/or face-to-face training to clinicians or coders as requested/required regarding documentation of services and appropriate coding of level of service, diagnoses, and procedures; including tips and techniques to help clinicians work more efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR). Carefully analyzing and choosing educational presentation training points to ensure training is relevant and meets clinician or coders needs appropriately to improve or maintain complete and accurate documentation and code selection, consistently.

    • Perform periodic quality reviews of documentation and coding. Analyzing results, vetting findings with stakeholders and coding teams, and providing summary feedback to individual clinicians and/or coding teams, making recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with CCC team members when code assignment is not straightforward, or documentation is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes, utilizing departmental resources and processes.

    • Responds to or clarifies internal requests for coding information from clinicians and business and operational partners. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information, Business, Healthcare or other related fields

    • 3 years coding experience or equivalent education/experience

    • Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC).

    • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to articulate and understand differences in clinician teaching methodology vs. coder teaching methodology

    • Ability to tactfully and successfully interact with physicians and other professional ~~~
