  • Overview

    Develops the Nursing research and EBP program in collaboration with Research Operations leadership and Principle Investigators (PI’s) to direct, develop, coordinate, manage and evaluate research studies to maintain high standards of care, patient safety, data integrity and compliance with informed consents. Develops nursing professional opportunities by creating programs based on needs of the organization to continuously provide opportunities for colleagues to advance their practice through ongoing learning.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees the design, development and administration of protocols for patients in nursing research studies to maintain or improve good patient care and will generate practice questions as result of new study procedure or intervention.

    • Develops a strong research and EVP model and educates staff of purpose and design.

    • Develops and implements strategies and programs of the Center for Nursing Excellence including but not limited to a professional practice model, professional development programs, and practice governance. Ensures that such activities are inclusive of nurses in all practice settings and D-H locations.

    • Ensures the development, implementation and periodic evaluation of evidence-based practice standards, policies and procedures that elevate nursing performance and are consistent with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

    • Maintains a strong interpersonal relationship with PI’s to support nursing and PI matches that enhance study performance.

    • Partners in the development of educational materials and curriculum for research participants.

    • Accountable for the development of research nursing staff. Manages performance through ongoing conversations, feedback and setting clear performance and behavioral expectations.

    • Oversees day-to-day research activities and implementation of projects minimize subject risk, this may include coordinating and/or, providing in-direct nursing care (e.g. participation in clinical, unit and/or protocol rounds; scheduling study related tests).

    • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop innovations in care delivery that have potential to improve patient outcomes and accuracy of data collection.

    • Serves as a member and liaison for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) supporting a compliant and safe approach of human subjects across research studies.

    • Provides clinical expertise, knowledge, and best practices related to clinical research through presentations, publications and/or interactions with nursing and research colleagues.

    • Oversees and monitors research nursing practice to maintain enrollment levels, quality and patient outcomes, and safety and adverse events connected to nursing process.

    • Develops and manages relevant budgets.

    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required.

    • PhD, or Doctoral degree required or matriculation into a doctoral program.

    • 5 years of progressively responsible management experienced required.

    • Experience reporting and publishing research strongly desired.

    • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop staff, manage independently and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups at various levels and various disciplines.

    • Experience in educational program design and organizational implementation preferred.

    • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.

    • Experience analyzing and organizing data to be reported in multiple formats and for multiple audiences.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility
