    POSITION DETAILS

    College Now is a collaborative initiative of the City University of New York and the New York City Department of Education. Its primary goals are to improve the academic achievement of the city's public high school students and to ensure that graduating students are ready to do college-level work. College Now at Bronx Community College (BCC) is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities for students both in the high schools and at the college. College Now at BCC supports the development of written/oral communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills, to supplement the high school curriculum.

    Reporting primarily to the College Now Director, the College Now Specialist / Assistant Director will assist with the daily operations of the College Now program at BCC. Primarily, the Specialist will administer student outreach, student support, and special events that are designed to enhance the learning experience of all BCC College Now students.

    The duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Create and maintain relationships with leaders of participating high schools and community organizations.

    • Supervise College Now Part-Time staff.

    • Arrange collaboration between faculty members and programming at schools participating in College Now.

    • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of all policies and procedure related to student recruitment, enrollment, class placement, attendance, and satisfactory performance.

    • Liaison with University College Now and other CUNY programs.

    • Arrange for use of all college resources and facilities by College Now staff and students.

    • Supervise program admission process.

    • Collaborate with Director and academic departments to create and implement college preparatory programming which informs students about Bronx Community College undergraduate programs.

    • Monitor essential indicators of plan effectiveness (registrations, attendance, retention, and academic achievement).

    • Assist in developing assessment methods for evaluating program.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

    Other Qualifications

    An advanced degree is preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated experience working with New York City Public high schools and academic administration. Familiarity with afterschool programming at the high school level preferred. Strong writing, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Familiarity with CUNYfirst and Excel software are a must. Availability during evening hours and Saturdays required during the school year.

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.

    • Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

    • Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings

    • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

    • Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services

    • Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures

    • Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials

    • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    $68,004 - $70,238; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
