  • Responsible for administering athletic training services in the clinic or community setting patient care under the direction of physicians and in collaboration with the healthcare team.

    • Performs patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, assessment of pain level, completion and/or review of past medical history, family history, social history, and medication reconciliation.

    • Performs physical examination per patient history and chief complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing, manual muscle testing, dynamic muscle testing, myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing.

    • Prepares for and assist physician with minor surgical procedures, including preparation of patient, treatment site, and medications.

    • Provides proper post-operative wound care and education, removal of sutures and dressing changes to post-surgical patients, cast or splint, and/or DME application as directed by the attending physician.

    • Collaborates with supervising physician to develop a plan of care for treatment/interventions.

    • Uses current best practices for concussion evaluation and management.

    • Executes Protocol Orders accurately and reviews diagnostic studies under the direction of a physician.

    • Documents all aspects of evaluation, testing, and supply usage within the Electronic Health Record.

    • Exhibits knowledge of the domains of athletic training: injury/illness prevention and wellness protection, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, and organizational and professional health and well-being.

    • Demonstrates autonomy by independently seeking out resources while working collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.

    • Communicates clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others.

    • Assures continuity of care through effective decision-making resulting in quality patient care and positive patient outcomes.

    • Identifies the need to develop or revise protocols and procedures pertaining to orthopedic patients and and/or department practices.

    • Implements clinic initiatives relating to patient safety, compliance, and staff development.

    • Supports onboarding of new team members and precepts as applicable.

    • Attends educational in-services and maintains compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain current certifications, licensures, etc.

    • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

    • Participates in community outreach events as required by program manager.

    • Maintains compliance with infection control policies and procedures.

    • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice.

    • Monitors physician schedules as appropriate to ensure seamless patient flow during clinic hours.

    • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

    Position Compensation Range: $21.95 - $34.02 Hourly

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Master's degree in athletic training or exercise physiology.

    Experience: 1 year related experience or training.

    License/Certification: Athletic Trainer, Certified Athletic Trainer Certifications Board of Certification; American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
