Seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineer to impact vast and exciting projects.

Description

Long Island Engineering firm is seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineer to join their team in West Islip, NY. This role involves working on the design and permitting aspects of industrial and commercial projects, including heat recovery generators for their utility clients. The successful candidate will contribute to site planning, design calculations, and inspections, ensuring that all projects meet regulatory and safety standards. While this position is primarily office-based, it will require occasional fieldwork with a few hours per week in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Engineering: Create detailed structural designs for industrial and commercial projects, including heat recovery generators and other utility infrastructure. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

• Permitting and Compliance: Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and complete.

• Software Utilization: Use STAAD Pro and AutoCAD for structural analysis and design. Create detailed drawings and schematics for projects.

• Site Planning: Assist in the planning and layout of project sites, considering factors such as accessibility, safety, and environmental impact.

• Field Inspections: Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design plans and permits. Identify and report any discrepancies or safety issues.

• Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution. Communicate design changes and resolve technical issues as they arise.

• Documentation: Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and other documentation required for project approval and construction.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering, with a focus on industrial and commercial projects.

• Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or on track to attain within 6 months.

• Skills: Proficiency in STAAD Pro and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of engineering principles, design codes, and permitting processes.

• Fieldwork: Willingness to spend a few hours per week on project sites for inspections and planning.
