    • Our new Crisis Services program provide patients and families with timely, effective care during a mental health crisis by initiating care in our EDs for patients who are currently experiencing a menta health crisis, developing a new unit for patients not yet safe to go home, who would benefit from a family-centered, acute crisis intervention, and establish a crisis clinic to provide rapid access to ambulatory treatment.

    • Our new Traverse Academy, a school-based intensive mental health treatment program, within the Cheery Creek School District is slated to open in Fall of 2023. It is an integrated school and intensive outpatient treatment center, including specialized transition programming, for students with significant and impairing emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The program is part of an effort to reduce risk for self-injurious behavior and suicide through collaborative school-academic partnerships and facilitate a smooth transition from intensive treatment to the student's home school.

    The DOP, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU) and the Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI), Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) has an opening for a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychologist in their outpatient clinic. Please note this is an open-rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

    Nature of Work

    This position is primarily responsible for providing evidence-based mental health services to youth and their families in the CHCO PMHI outpatient clinic at the Anschutz Medical Campus and/or at one of the Network of Care locations. The CHCO PMHI outpatient clinic serves youth presenting with a wide range of emotional and behavioral difficulties including anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, ADHD, behavioral concerns, and trauma. There may be opportunities to work in additional clinical, training, and/or research settings within PMHI based on skillset and program needs.

    The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide direct evidence-based patient care to youth and families including diagnostic evaluations, as well as individual, family, and group therapy

    • Develop and implement treatment plans and engage in ongoing treatment monitoring

    • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external providers involved in a patient's care

    • Supervise, teach, and mentor mental health trainees

    • Engage in research, scholarship, and/or quality improvement projects

    • Serve on committees, task forces, and/or workgroups

    • May have opportunities to engage in program development in collaboration with PMHI clinical leadership

    Supervision Received

    The Child and Adolescent Psychologist report to the PMHI Clinical Director, Dr. Jessica Hawks.

    Supervision Exercised

    The Child and Adolescent Psychologist will not supervise other employees. There will be opportunities to provide supervision, training, and mentoring to mental health trainees.

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at:

    Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor: $105,000 to $120,000

    Associate Professor: $130,000 to $145,000

    Professor: $175,000 to $205,000

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    • Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of Colorado

    • Must have significant prior experience in a psychiatric setting serving youth and families

    • Completed an APA-approved Ph.D. or PsyD training program, including an APA-approved internship

    • Education: PsyD or PhD

    • Experience: 1-7+ years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Assistant Professor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Associate Professor: 4-7 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Professor: 7+ years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.

    Applicable for all ranks: M inimum degree required Ph.D. and/or PsyD, Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the State of Colorado

    Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

    • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience following completion of a post-doctoral fellowship

    • Experience working in an APA accredited training program

    • Experience working in an academic medical center

    • Preference will be given to those who are eager to engage in all aspects of the academic mission (e.g., clinical, teaching, scholarship, and service)

    To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

    • Clinical expertise in providing evidence-based assessment and treatment to youth and families in an outpatient mental health setting

    • Strong foundation in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral theory. Well-versed in evidence-based treatments and ability to flexibly apply these interventions with fidelity across a wide range of presenting concerns

    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

    • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations

    • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Effective time management and organizational skills

    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, trainees, patients, and families

    • Knows and applies best practices in diversity and inclusion practices

    • Ability to provide effective supervision to mental health trainees and consultation with other mental health professionals

    • Knowledge of research and quality improvement methodology, as well as the ability to independently conduct research and/or quality improvement projects
