    Description:

    Position Purpose:

    At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Registered Nurse RN in the Cardiovascular CVOR Operating Room delivers patient care for surgical patients.

    What you will do:

    • CVOR nurses meticulously prepare the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily accessible.

    • Actively assist the cardiac surgeon during the procedure. They handle instruments, pass sutures, and manage surgical equipment. While also anticipating the surgeon's needs, maintaining a sterile field, and responding promptly to any emergent situations.

    • Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and potential complications.

    Minimum Qualifications :

    • Education : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree is preferred.

    • Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Must hold a valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure.

    • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cardiac Perioperative and Surgical Service lines or General/Main Operating Room settings.

    • BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.

    • Proficiency in practicing according to the recommended standards and guidelines of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) .

    Position Highlights and Benefits :

    Full-Time: 40 hours/week - Day Shift. Rotating weekends and holidays, on-call rotation is required for all shifts.

    • Experience Nurses with one (1) or more years of expertise receive additional hourly specialty pay, enhancing the base pay compensation.
