    Amentum is seeking Boiler/Turbine Plant Floor Operator for our highly complex, critical environment, pharmaceutical powerhouse team in Groton, CT!

    This position will work 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. This position will also require a flexible schedule to cover 12 hour shifts in the case of a call out or vacation coverage.

    You're a Boiler/Turbine Plant Floor Operator that provides a level of expertise in the operation, lineup, troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on all utilities plant equipment. Utilities equipment includes but is not limited to: High Pressure Boilers, Steam/Gas Turbine Generators, Industrial Chillers including their related control systems and associated auxiliary equipment.

    As the Utilities Boiler Turbine Plant Floor Operator you will be responsible for:

    • Operating industrial steam boilers, and associated site distribution

    • Operating and lining up of utilities distribution systems

    • Distributing generated nitrogen as well as bulk delivery storage

    • Managing return condensate/steam trap systems and ancillary equipment

    • Making equipment rounds, performing water chemistry, collecting data and making minor equipment repairs

    • Acting as 1st response to alarm conditions including escalation where appropriate

    • Taking corrective action for abnormal events or system failures

    • Keeping logs and recording retention for systems including regulatory requirements maintaining system performance within permitted levels (air, water, and effluent discharge)

    • Pursuing a continuous improvement process and training as required for further growth as a powerplant operator

    As the Boiler Turbine Floor Operator IV , you will be expected to:

    Minimum Requirements

    • High school or equivalent

    • CT state OE2 license or the ability to obtain one within a year of service

    • Five years of technical experience in any skilled trade including operating and maintaining chilled water systems in a large commercial or industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and or experience. Including 1 year of experience in the operation of building management systems and chilled water generation and distribution.

    • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.

    • Ability to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

    • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department Motor Vehicles, as requested.

    • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

    • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

    • Requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods and walk extensively throughout the facility during shift.

    • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, twist, crawl, and climb repetitive during shift.

    • Requires the ability to regularly kneel, work in cramped or confined spaces, or assume uncomfortable or tiring body positions repetitive for shift.

    • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

    • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

    • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, stairs, or scaffolding at least 10 times during shift.

    • Requires the ability to work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions, as needed.

    • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.

    • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

    • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

    • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

    • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

    • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

    Pfizer Site Requirement:

    All employees and contractors working at a Pfizer site must be fully vaccinated against covid-19 by November 15, 2021, unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption.     Preferred Qualifications

    • Technical degree in related field.

    • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.

    • Experience working with heavy industrial or manufacturing plant steam systems, centrifugal chillers, air handling units, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.

    • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.

    • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
