The Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at Kennedy Krieger Institute has been operating for over 40 years and has received national recognition.The Clinical Social Worker I is a primary therapist to children and families who have been exposed to abuse, neglect and violence.

Responsibilities

1. Provides clinical social work services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families, some of whom will be Spanish speaking, including diagnosis and treatment through individual, group, or family treatment.

2. If indicated, collaborates with the referring agency, the school system, community agencies, and the juvenile court system to assist in the development of a service plan for the child and family and to assure that the children are receiving the appropriate services.

3. Participates in individual supervision, clinic meetings, administrative staff meetings, and in-service training.

4. Maintains client activity at the projected level set by the administrative staff.

5. Maintains the medical record for each client which includes diagnostic interview note, progress notes, transfer summary, treatment plan, and discharge summary.

6. May participate in the field instruction program and supervise social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated; may participate in community activity related to the needs of traumatized children and their families; and/or committee projects.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.

• Must be licensed in the State of Maryland, by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical (LCSW-C).

• Must hold and maintain CPR certification.

• *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.

• *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

EDUCATION:

• Master's degree from an accredited School of Social Work required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Must have at least 4 years' experience related to providing services to children in the welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance.
