    Job Description

    About the role:

    The Automation Engineer I will assist to ensure the manufacturing equipment/systems and Automation systems used in the manufacture, storage, testing, and distribution of Takeda products are fit for purpose following Takeda standards and industry regulatory requirements.

    You will oversee operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration or programming of site automation systems servicing the manufacturing and utilities areas. You will support the site automation systems (Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLC, OSI-PI plant historian, Siemens Simatic IT EBR and others) but primary service will be the Site EBM/MES - Siemens IT EBR system. You will implement area and system improvements through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP's in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility, and you report to the Associate Engineering Director - Automation in Social Circle, GA.

    How you will contribute:

    • Provide hands-on technical support, diagnostics and troubleshooting functions to manufacturing operations and guide design improvements as applicable.

    • Assess existing equipment and automation systems in the manufacturing area and help determine the required changes to meet the design, reliability, and requirements.

    • Develop and review the automation of manufacturing process, support equipment and systems, design drawings and documents and equipment procurement packages.

    • Support one or more manufacturing process areas, overseeing all investigations and projects in that area.

    • Participate in projects, perform assigned tasks, demonstrate basic business knowledge, resolve non-complex problems, receive moderate direction, provide no direction to others, and have basic knowledge of SDLC.

    • Code, test, debug, and document programming application activities following SDLC processes, application processes and quality validation for small to medium projects.

    • Gather, understand, and document requirements, specifications, and requirements on small/medium size projects.

    • Support automation systems commissioning, qualification and validation activities. Also support continuous improvement, process optimization, reliability, expansion, and upgrade projects.

    • Update system life cycle, and Standard Operating Procedures for automation systems.

    • Support and train technicians on control system functionality, troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.

    • Demonstrate continuous improvement concerning increasing job knowledge and proficiency related to engineering in the biopharmaceutical industry, and technical understanding capability.

    • Stay current with assigned SOPs and keep an up-to-date training file ensuring compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

    • Support user client inquiries and problems and address operational and program discrepancies during and after business hours. Can work on shift for issue escalation support.

    • Proficiency using Word, Excel and PowerPoint and can work in a team-based environment and have a yearn to improve.

    What You Bring to Takeda:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, sciences, mathematics, or computer technology required. Some related experience a plus.

    • Programming/scripting skills. Knowledge of the systems software development life cycle.

    Important Considerations

    • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

    • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

    • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment and work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

    • Will participate in a rotating after-hour process control support function.

    U.S. Base Salary Range:

    $56,000.00 - $88,000.00

    The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.?The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

    U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
