Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

    What you'll be able to do:

    You will play a key role in ensuring our ability to maintain the highest standards of manufacturing quality, consistency and safety. We'll look to you to provide expert direction for controls equipment locations that meet optimal safety, maintenance and production considerations for tool install through launch. You will:

    • Help define Factory Information System (FIS) assets at PLC level

    • Coordinate tooling supplier and plant floor systems supplier for FIS, ILVS, IBSS, etc.

    • Support integration of energy supplies, operator lift tables, etc.

    • Ensure adherence to all Ford safety standards

    • Perform debug and tool buyoff of controls functions that support maintenance and production (e.g., fault diagnostics, manual screen functions, robot control screens, etc.)

    • Validate the implementation of controls task updates

    • Provide support for plants to resolve controls issues and concerns

    • Communicate feedback/lessons learned to the controls standard group

    • Ensure cross commodity tooling consistency

    • Mentor tooling suppliers to provide safe, consistent, reliable and maintainable tooling

    • Adhere to common Ford programming practices

    • Support standard group for the controls design/build checklists prior to scheduled buyoff

    • Perform PLC/robot safety risk assessments

    • Review, track and help resolve controls issues during launch phase

    • Assist in the development of a robust prove out and test plan for all new interfaces

    • Coordinate controls open-issue meetings

    • Work overtime, weekends and holidays as well as travel 70% of your time - domestically and internationally

    • Support FIS and throughput meetings and issues

    The minimum requirements we seek:

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • Five years or more of controls experience

    Our preferred requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or bachelor of science in related

    • Background with Kawasaki and Fanuc Robots

    • Experience with Ethernet/IP

    • Detailed knowledge of robots

    • In-depth understanding of Ford controls architectures

    • Experience in the development/launch of new controls, processes and facilities

    • Strong communication, leadership and computer skills

    • Five years or more experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD 2000 and Rockwell Software Suite

    • Experience with Ethernet, Device Net, Profinet, Profibus, etc.
