What you will be able to do
As part of our Electrification Powertrain Engineering (EPE) team, you will help deliver the best fuel economy and refined Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles in every segment in which we compete. Your Contributions will enable us to consistently produce the best customer vehicle value while achieving a level of performance and smoothness of operation that exceeds our customer's expectations. Be responsible for manufacturing of battery cells, arrays and packs
Handle cell design, engineering and cell assembly stations (e.g. electrode coating, winding or stacking, welding, packaging and formation, etc.)
Select and evaluate materials, including electrode, electrolyte and separator materials
Develop and qualify large format lithium ion cell design
Handle advanced battery cell and pack testing, with detailed analysis
Complete battery cell chemical analysis
Analyze battery and cell usage and related specification development
Be responsible for Battery test lab operations, planning and test methods development
Develop next generation battery design and new concepts
Be responsible for Cell electrochemical methods and modeling
Cell performance, life and degradation studies
Analyze Automotive cell reliability, including design and process failure mode and effects
Detailed battery cell cost analysis and modeling
Research mild, full, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicle applications
The minimum requirements we seek
Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering
10+ years of experience in the Lithium Ion Battery (LIB) industry
10+ years of experience from LIB materials to fully assembled, post-formation cells
Record of documentation: 5+ patents and/or publications
Our preferred requirements
Master's Degree or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science or Engineering
Experience with electrode slurry mixing or coating processes
10+ years hands-on experience
Chemical laboratory skills
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Leader/Manager experience
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
